So Aaron, Ali, Brams, Landis, Steph and I all went to Myrtle Beach for Labor Day weekend. We all went to NYC last year near this time as a east coast club thing, so we repeated. It was fun. We played on the beach, played minigolf, ate at a Calabash (seafood buffet, 120 items, 2-1/2 ton Crab named Tommy?), and went Wardriving. So this guy at the Calabash came over to take our picture and tried to break the ice by telling a joke. He said, "What's a pirates favorite food?". To which I replied RUM!. He laughed. The punchline was supposed to be ARRRANGES (oranges). I was proud, it isn't often I am funny any more. Those are the effects of not hanging out with friends all the time. Life is good though. Steph and I are moving into an awesome new place this weekend which should cost us less than our place now and has a fireplace and a 2 car garage.
To qualify the next thing I say and to make it clear that Steph and I are not rich by anymeans let me say this. I owe $7,000 to a credit card, $2,500 on Steph's car, $20,000 on my car, $22,000 in student loans, and have lots of bills (rent, utilities, insurance). So money is super tight. But, check this out.
I started last June at my current company at a decent salary, which was a little low for the area. After 6 months my boss calls me in his office to tell me he gave me a 5% raise. I had my yearly review (late) about two weeks ago and my boss tells me I am getting another 10% raise. Awesome, I expected 5% at most especially considering I already got a surprise raise. Anyway, yesterday he tells me he submitted my raise and it should go on this weeks pay, but he went ahead and bumped it up to 12%. Isn't that nuts? That is a 17.6% increase in pay in 15 months!
