All the movies we've watched in the last month

All the movies we've watched in the past month (unless I'm forgetting anything (likely)) (and I'll give them ratings out of 10 because I feel like it):

Doctor Who: The Tomb of the Cybermen
The 2nd Doctor finds some quietly mad people who want to revive frozen Cybermen and use them to conquer the galaxy or universe or whatever it is people conquer in these shows. This is probably the best of the 2nd Doctor's episodes on DVD, but that's not saying much as the 2nd Doctor is generally terrible. 6/10

Doctor Who: The Seeds of Death
The 2nd Doctor battles bad writing, a lunar invasion, and bubble bath. 4/10

Do Not Adjust Your Set
We only watched a few episodes because it was too bad to tolerate. If you don't know, this is a pre-Python BBC series featuring most of the Monty Python cast. There is an occasional joke that might be from the same universe as Monty Python, but never anything funny enough to actually make you laugh. Purely historical value. 2/10

Doctor Who: The Mind Robber
The 2nd Doctor visits planet mind-fuck. 5/10

Doctor Who: Spearhead from Space
The 3rd Doctor foils his first of many alien invasions, with a genuinely creepy performance from the villain. This is the first episode with the 3rd Doctor, and it's a huge departure from the rest of the series. The writing, acting and production values are on par with feature films of the time. 7/10

Doctor Who: Inferno
The 3rd Doctor struggles against bureaucracy, then travels to a parallel universe where he has similar struggles with a fascist dictatorship. Oh, and there's some sort of alien invasion from the center of the earth. 5/10

The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai
Bad movie. Great cast, but terrible, terrible movie. We got it to see a movie with Clancy "Krabs" Fuckin' Brown, but he had a small and lame role. 3/10

The Searchers
Netflix sent us this because they are jerks. We didn't want it, and we didn't get to get a replacement movie until the guy who got the movie we were supposed to get sent it back. Anyhow, we watched this since we had it anyway. We hadn't seen a John Wayne movie before, and we probably won't see one again. 3/10

Doctor Who: The Three Doctors
The plot doesn't really make a lot of sense, the 1st Doctor only gets about 3 minutes of screen time, and I had no desire to see the 2nd Doctor return. But I appreciate Who stories that deal with Timelords as Timelords rather than generic sci-fi heroes with Tardis bookends. 6/10

Doctor Who: The Claws of Axos
More planet-conquering aliens. . . Great special effects, but the worst writing of the 3rd-Doctor episodes I've seen. 5/10

Greg the Bunny (2 discs)
This show's a lot funnier than I expected. Tardy the Turtle is one of my new favorite characters ever. And I had to rent disc 1 a second time just so that I could make my new user picture. 8/10

It took them almost 15 days to send us disc 2. Mighty upset with Netflix were we. But when we complained, they gave us a free movie. That doesn't actually make up for it, since we could have gotten more than one movie in that time, but it's nice to know that Netflix will give you free stuff if you bitch at them.

Alf: Season 1: Disc 1
Ha! Okay, not anywhere near as good as I expected/half-remembered. Mostly it's sitcom cliches, featuring a puppet. But it's good puppetry, and good enough jokes to make it worth watching if you're not expecting brilliance. 5/10

Alien vs. Predator (the extended edition)
I've been wanting to see the extended edition since I knew it existed. I had a naive hope that they would use the extra time to patch over some of the plot holes. Nope, just gore. But gore's good, too. 6/10

Stravinsky
A CBC documentary from the 60s. Basically, a couple camera men follow Stravinsky around for a week, and an Orson Wells impersonator gives some hilariously awful narration. Watch it with a friend, and if you have any degree of snark in you, you will enjoy yourself. 7/10

Star Wars: Clone Wars: Vol. 1 & 2
Samurai Jack, except with a short attention span, bad acting and worse dialog (just like in the movies (minus the short attention span -- how I wish the movies had a short attention span. . .)). 8/10

(continued from here)

predator, stravinsky, monty python, watching, dan milano, alf, doctor who, paul w.s. anderson, w.d. richter, john ford, alien, star wars, genndy tartakovsky
