I need a piano. I promised myself a few days ago that I would spend today finishing [some of] the assload of unfinished music that's been sitting around in folders for months, but when it comes down to actually doing it (and it would only be a matter of a few hours per piece), I just have no incentive. If I wrote them down all nice, they might be closer to being finished, but music is sound -- they can't be finished without an instrument. So I've decided that that's the reason I haven't done anything productive in that area. I need a piano. Hell, I could probably even afford a crappy piano if I sold some stuff, but it's just not practical to buy one while we're living in a (very small) temporary home.
So I consider getting something like a guitar as a portable/affordable substitute, but I know it wouldn't work out. I'd like to learn how to play something like that just for its own sake, but it's got nothing to do with the above issue and wouldn't solve anything (although it could be a pleasant distraction. . .).
Instead I've resumed playing with Nero Wave Editor. It's unlikely that anything better than a "Revolution 9" rip off will come from that, but even if the results are crap, the process is somewhat satisfying.
