I’ve been here before.
The edge of the precipice.
How many more times?
I think my life needed, and subsequently needs, lots more time with the abyss.
Paul Simon probably said it best...
A man walks down the street
It's a street in a strange world
Maybe it's the Third World
Maybe it's his first time around
He doesn't speak the language
He holds no currency
He is a foreign man
He is surrounded by the sound
The sound
Cattle in the marketplace
Scatterlings and orphanages
He looks around, around
He sees angels in the architecture
Spinning in infinity
He says Amen! and Hallelujah!
I'm yet to meet anyone that's actually been to Africa tell me how dangerous it is, or even portray it in a slightly negative light. This dude from down the street came up and said G'day to me Saturday, as the neighbors had told him I was going. Turns out he lived in Egypt and the surrounding countries for several years and "All my best mates come from Sudan!".
He then proceeded to tell me how awesome I was, and shook my hand several times. I mean, yeah, I know how awesome I am - But it's always nice to hear! ;)
I'll write up something more detailing my funeral, on the Saturday 22nd of this month when I've got a few more spare moments - 19 days to go! :D
