"Hope you don't mind me commenting on an old post here."
Naw, it's okay. I actually need a disclaimer somewhere for the embarrassing lack of comments that aren't left -it's way easier to write on LiveJournal, over Facebook, and I like the format better. So, comments are usually left on my Facebook by friends who claim, "one social network is good enough". And as far as LiveJournal, I seem to have left my friends-making ability in the third grade LOL
Anyways, about this video: The first time I saw this I couldn't stop laughing, mostly bcz it was so bad -aside from the subject matter, that is- and, really, doesn't actually focus on anything (stereotypical, or otherwise) remotely 'asian'. The most he actulay says is, "beutiful eyes" and even that could aply to "How to Draw Women" in general. There should actually be a comma after the word "Beginner" bcz it truly is a 'Beginner' who is giving this drawing lessons. Sure he is drawing the eyes "slanty" but think about how worse it could have been:
...
...Yeah, and outside of just features, he could have drawn a fan, or kimono, or chopsticks, etc... but he didn't. His one prop was a purse. [which is a testament to how great props work in art: as soon as he started to draw that in, I was thinking oh-no, she's going shopping! LOL /sexism-off/ ...it created a story]
Several friends have told me that it's a bit like "ask a jack-ass question, get a jack-ass answer". And what exactly dose that mean? Well, if people been constantly askin' a cartoonist, "how do you draw an asian woman?" Would you really go into "detail" or would you just draw a picture[a very horible one at that] of a woman. This guy's a really simple dude. He draws a lot of fast, crappy stuff. He whips it out fast, too; maybe the quality can be explaned through the fact that he's doing it for the site eHow, and is probably getting something from it? Or maybe this is how he does his community service? LOL
His drawing looks a lot like a poor, sad version of this, which you can also get on a hat. LOL
[Holy crap, I can probably talk for ever about this -most anything dealing with art.]
How to Draw an Asian Fairy -This is just odd bcz it's like this dude is trying to kill two birds with one stone.
Wow... don't ever look up "asian women" on a how-to site. LOL Yeesh...
Sorry if I was sounding like the devil's advocate up there. There are so many alternate versions of how this could have worked: Supposing his drawing was actually good; would people have been as upset. Supposing it was horribly racist -or extra-horribly racist, as some might see it. What if the artist himself were asian. I've seen quite a few drawings in mangas, and the like, that look exactly like some of the old-timey stereotype drawings of asians(viewed through "western" eyes); but even with that, it's not ALL the characters, it's like they are trying to point out the 'weird guy' and not the 'weird peoples'. Same goes for old cartoonist depictions of blacks. You know, when I was a kid I never put two-and-two together that these old cartoons were suppose to be blacks and those actors in yellowface were suppose to be asian? Maybe I was a stupid kid... naw.... Those were horrible...

Several other bits on the eHow page give us:
How to Draw an Asian Face -This one is so horrifically bad, there are really no words for it.
How to Draw Asian Women -Déjà vu! Someone else is now taking a stab at it.
