I really think we're headed for a record.

Without knowing even half of the words, I've managed to have "Total Eclipse Of The Heart" stuck in my head at least once a day for going on three weeks now.  It's become progressively less faithful a rendition and more a profane one as the days have worn on, because it gives me giggle fits.

I will now infect you with my opinion on music I've acquired in the last few months.

José González - In Our Nature.  Easy listening, though it hasn't grown on me fully yet.  Except for the cover of Massive Attack's "Teardrop."  Holy shit, that's good.
Björk - Volta.  Disappointingly forgettable.
They Might Be Giants - The Else.  Feels a lot like "The Spine" in some ways, which isn't bad, but isn't awesome either.  Respectable, if not fully engaging.  I'm too much of a fan not to like it, of course.
Feist - The Reminder.  If you don't own this, you are a fool.  If you're lazy, I'll send it to you.  You have no excuses.
The Blow - Poor Aim: Love Songs.  If you liked "Paper Television", listen to that instead.  They had surer footing on that album.  If you didn't like "Paper Television," I don't know what to say to you.
Elliott Smith - New Moon.  Not since Jeff Buckley have we had someone leave behind material as solid as this after passing away.  I like parts of it even more than "From a Basement on the Hill" and that's saying something.
Tom Waits - Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers & Bastards.  Very raw, even for Tom, but still has those moments where he turns a phrase in a way that gives you a nasty grin.  Three discs is a bit daunting, but I'm the sort who will except any number of songs he cares to throw my way.
Rilo Kiley - Under the Blacklight.  Unlistenable.  I was not expecting to have this to say about it, but it's true.  What a thoroughly horrible album.
The Thermals - The Body, the Blood, the Machine.  Got into the Thermals a bit late, but better that than never.  Bands like this make me believe  it's possible for punk to grow up (for a counterexample, listen to any Bad Religion song and pretend that you can tell what part of their career it's from).

turn around, bright eyes
(every fuckin' day I fall apart)

lists, music
