The heart of Dixie.

We drove fourteen hours from My state to hers.  It's warmer here and the dirt roads are red.  Oh, and the entire population is addicted to sweet tea.  I remain immune.

We won't talk about the drive down.  It was long and it's now over, seven states and four major interstates later.

Thanksgiving was different.  Cimmy, her grandparents, her aunt, and me.  Also four dogs.  Nancy Jane is an adorable pampered shih tzu with an exposed saliva gland.  Ellie the black lab's back end wobbles when she is happy (read: at all times) because she's got a bum hip.  Casey was the runt of his litter, a chow chow with no tail.  They think a car hit him last year.  Brother is an Aussie shepherd with a glandular problem that makes him chubby and sedentary.  This family appears to attract pets with medical problems.

The family likes me and I like them.  Can't beat that with a stick.

It's quiet here without all of the distractions of home.  I'm making better headway in Guns, Germs, & Steel, for one.  I took a break last week to re-read Ender's Game, which is on my top ten all-time book list.  Now I'm back to learning about why we Eurasians own the world.

They're heckling "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" Time to join in.  Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving, wherever you went.
