Walking home was long.  I needed to think and I needed something long and dramatic, something symbolic to pass the new year.  Things like that always help.  Walking is always a time to think.  You snap into a pace and you lose track of time.  Between drunkeness and exhaustion your mind slowly vibrates toward malleability.  The colder it gets the faster you walk.  The snow builds up on the back of your neck and along the front of your jacket but you're lost in thought and vacillate between boredom and fascination as formerly familiar places become covered with snow.  You're the first to walk down so many sidewalks and the few desparate strangers you see are all busy puking or hailing cabs.  And as your long trail of footprints becomes covered you realize you don't quite remember where you've been or what route you've taken, but somehow you've gotten to where you were headed.  This bizarre journey becomes something separate and unique from all other nights.  A living reference point to bind ourselves to the numerical calendar.

I took full advantage of this moment.  I've been living off this creativity for the past few days slowly changing things and such.  I've done a lot of writing.  I'm happy with the way things have turned out.  I've also become more deeply aquainted with Comcast On Demand programming.  They have both karaoke and a dating service.

Happy New Year.
