The Sloth is a timid creature, low in intellegence and slow in speed. However, because of this retard in motion, they meticulously plan every move they make many minutes before it is put into action. I would say that they swing from tree to tree, but something traveling slower than the common garden snail is hardly worthy of such a jaunty word. 'Mope', I think, from tree to tree is much more accurate, for while they are not (generally) sad while doing so, their drooping features and fur (espeically if they are hanging side down up) make them appear to be so.
And it is for this very reason that a creature such as the African Jungle Slug (AJS), many many times the size of their American counterparts, are their most feared jungle opponents. Clocking in at an outragous two times faster than the Sloth, chases between these two critters can become most intense, for while AJS's posses greater speed, Slothi are able to mope between trees and branches, a fact confusing to the AJS's which can slow and even stop them in their slime trails.
