Blackbeard the pirate was a sailor of the most dreadful sort, one of the most feared of all the seven seas. His ship, bestowed with the name of the Devil's Claw, housed his pirate clan, and the plunders of their many travles. While most swashbuckling treasure hunters simply stole from the rich and poor, Blackbeard fanced a fair trade, and would often bid goods and services for the loot he and his crew would be receivin'.
In one such case, while stoppin' by the great land of the Rising Sun, he came across a temple, made of solid gold. Now, it would be silly to try and take the whole temple, for it was so huge, and would sink his ship, let alone fit on it. So they approached this golden temple, which was nestled on an island no bigger than the structure, and went ashore.
Upon entering in the holy shrine, this motley crew encountered a strange being, unlike any that they had come across before. Esentially a large dismembered hand, this beast spoke in a deep voice. Seeming already to know of Blackbeard's policy, the hand claimed that if they strung up a deadly Sea Wasp, they could carry off one of the vases in front. It alone was worth a thousand king's ransoms.
So they set off, searching for this "Sea Wasp" that the creature had spoken of. And no sooner did they have to ponder where to go did a giant bee burst forth from the watery depths, dripping wet and roaring like a viking's mother. Hoisting on to their shoulders weapons they had since collected, the pirate parade attacked, shooting hooks and bullets and cannonballs and branches from a birch tree.
After a fearsome battle, the beast was waned and drug aboard, it's tendrils still a twitching. The sailed back to the temple and hauled the Sea Wasp inside, demanding their prize. And thus the hand presented them with the Golden Vase From the Front Door.
