(no subject)
today was fun...hung out with Justin and Sarah (my brother and his girlfriend) and we went to a restaurant in Worcester called Sahara. It's like a Lebanese/Middle Eastern style place, it was really, really good. I found it funny that the Sahara desert is located in neither Lebanon nor the Middle East. Discuss.
I had my meeting with my PI at Umass Med yesterday. Basically what I'm going to be doing is mutating this protein so that it folds in on itself so that it can't bind with the other half of the two-unit structure that typically makes up this protein in nature. Then I have to attach fleurescent labels to it so we can do all of different molecular studies on it and see which parts of the protein are important to its function. I don't totally get it yet, but I will. I'm a little intimidated, but in a good way. After this summer, I'll know a whole lot more than I do,and it should help in the research I'll be getting into during the school year. Plus I'll have some cash to hopefully save up instead of spend willy-nilly like I have in the past.
So I got my ID badge and parking pass today. I'm official and ready to start on Monday morning. I should be a 9-5er all summer, just another rat in the race.
