Kristen threw a pretty awesome New Years party at her house. It’s rare when everyone gets together in one place anymore, but most of our friends came out to celebrate! Chad should be proud of his girlfriend. She had foodage, snacks to munch on and fun novelties to play with. Woo hoo!
My 19608ers got pretty plastered, but I’ve seen a lot worse. There wasn’t any kind of drama, nothing got broken and no one got arrested, so I guess it went very well!
After the festivities finished, I drove 4 hrs to Pittsburgh (Yes, @ 2:30am). Yikes! I arrived at Jason’s, got changed and then headed straight to Heinz Field. It really wasn’t a bad day, even though I felt like poop. I only evicted about 6 people, but I got a nice laugh when a couple was caught having sex in one of the restrooms. Me and Victor (my co-worker) took them out to the inner main concourse for questioning, but the male counterpart jetted before we could establish a detailed description. Yeah, he was white and wearing a Hines Ward Jersey; doesn’t really help too much when a zillion matches surround you. Needless to say she was royally pissed off, but we couldn’t do anything but give her the boot. Hahaha, she got black balled by her boyfriend… Ouch!
I didn’t meet any new players or hall of famers…. But I did get to talk with Troy Palomalu in the player parking lot. It’s nothing out of the ordinary I guess, because I’ve spoken to him about four or five times since I started working. (He’s soooooo down to earth and quiet!) On a cool note, my head boss selected to be one of the personal security guards to escort Jerome Bettis out to his SUV, but the crowd waiting for him to sign autographs was soooooo big, that he had one of his relatives bring his Land Rover to him. The police were afraid that he would be bombarded and rushed like a rock star, considering his pending retirement and the huge contingent of fans. He’s like a god in Pittsburgh. He felt bad about it, but I guess you gotta do what you gotta do.
It was awesome to watch the Bus score 3 touchdowns in what may be his last home game ever. The Steelers clinched a playoff spot and now face the Bengal’s in Cincinnati. I have the opportunity to travel with the organization, but for me to go I have to make another 4 hr trip to the city. If I was at IUP, I’d be there in a second… but gas is sooo expensive and my car is giving me trouble right now. It’s optional, so I won’t get in trouble if I can’t be there.
Sigh…..
The other day, someone asked me about all the people I have met through my job. Here’s an abridged list for those who are interested.
The entire Steelers squad and coaching staff (2004 & 2005), Dan Rooney, Mean Joe Greene, Lynne Swann, Dick Butkus, Mike Ditka, Tony Dorset, Dan Marino, Jim Brown, Shannon Sharpe, Jeff Gumble, Boomer Esiason, Phill Sims, Joe Theisman, Bonnie Bernstein, Brian Urlacher, Tony Saragusa, Ray Lewis, Jamal Lewis and Kyle Orton… that’s not too shabby I guess.
Last year I also got to hold and guard the AFC Championship trophy for an FBI Agent.
: )
Now that I’m pretty much done with my job for the season, I can focus on getting a salaried position upon IUP graduation. There aren’t any openings in the front office as of yet, but I may end up becoming an Event Coordinator for Heinz Field. That may sound confusing, but the stadium and the team itself are two different entities. Off season, the humongous facility hosts concerts, boxing matches, dinner fundraisers etc… and they need fuckers like me to put it all together. Hahaha! I’d love to live in the land of steel, but again I have a lot of contacts all over the place. I’m hoping to have something lined up before I officially get my degree.
So that's what's up!
I hope you enjoyed my writing. Till next time bitches!
