I have a lot of fond memories here at IUP. Some I don't really remember, but I thought I'd share some of ones that really stick out.
1. 5th floor Wallace~ The first night in my dorm, I noticed that 5 people were laughing in the study lounge. Since I'm a nice guy... I introduced myself and started to talk. 5 turned into 10, 10 turned into 20... and next thing you know there were almost 45 crammed into that small ass room. It was soooooo much fun because all of us were outgoing, and for me... it was the first time being exposed to the open-ness of college. I was placed with the craziest group of individuals I have ever met in my life, and these people were insane. Not in a bad way, but in like a practical joke, partying, drama, dysfunctional kind of way. To give you an idea what I'm talking about, it would be normal for the dudes to walk around with socks on their cocks. Parents would come to visit and one of the sock wranglers would just walk right by them like nothing was wrong. Effin hillarious! It became a ritual for everyone to hang out in the study lounge and do everything but study. Imagine being an Resident Assistant and walking into a room where 40 people are watching a porno. LOL. No, this wasn't a drunken orgy.... on that evening we just started talking about sex, and someone took it to the next level. Heh. The 5th floor posse (as I called it) would go to frat parties as a huge crew and come back to Wallace Hall totally bombed. Each individual had their unique quirks, and believe you me it would of made quite the reality TV show.
2. The Cross Country House~ If you didn't know, I was recruited to throw shot and discus here in Indiana. In High School I was All County, All Section, All District and did my thing at States. After a few weeks of getting to know the athletes, I was invited to come out to one of their parties. Special members of the track team recieved a nickname from the Alumni. I was dubbed Clark, or Superman.... because I looked like Clark Kent and I had superhuman strength. Hahahaha. Yep. I was the keg bitch for the first year (initiation) and then I helped to organize various mixers. The CC house was one of the most popular places to go on campus... and I was in the middle of it. We practiced together, we drank heavily together... it was a good old time. I went streaking once in an inebriated stupor... but I was really lucky to not get caught. Hahaha. The Burt Hoovis Run and Chug was another yearly event that everyone participated in. It's a 3 mile race across campus, where you chug a beer at 15 different locations. BLLLAAAARRRRG! After my heart problem surfaced... I sort of ducked away from the crowd because it upset me to be around the sport I loved.
3. Alpha Phi Omega~ When I became an RA... My Resident Director recomended joining this fraternity to help out my resume. I was hesitant at first, because I thought it was just the typical hazing and "watch your grades plummet" kind of organization, but it really wasn't. I learned that I would meet a ton of girls (because it's co-ed) and do a lot of awesome stuff for the community! I got really involved... became an officer and started making some of my closest friends at IUP. The holiday parties were priceless and it enriched my experiences in planning and organizing events and fundraisers. The ladies voted me Sweetheart one year, but I don't have the slightest idea why anyone would do that.... hehehehe. I'm still involved off and on with the fraternity... but I'm considdered to be an Original Gangsta! LOL.
4. Treehouse~ Brian Slocum pledged with me in APO, and he lived in a place called Treehouse Apartments. Around this time, most of us were getting tired of the random, open keg parties, where you wouldn't know half of the people. So.... we began to have our own little gatherings! It was by invite only, because it would avoid underage drinking citations (for the most part) and LCB involvement. This place was really small, but it would be common to have 15-30 peeps crammed inside at the same time. Drinking was pushed to the extreme, because only the best boozers could handle a night in apartment #2. Keep in mind that parties didn't make Treehouse, the people made Treehouse. It's conveniently right on campus, so you could stop by in between classes and hang out. There were enough water fights, food fights and crazyness to make your head spin. Everyone who lived there graduated... and the story ended.
5. E-diddy and Jas-E~ I was really sick one night at a Treehouse party (don't ask why), and a kid named Jason Eyer gave me the necessary help I needed to make it through the ordeal. I thought he was really cool for going out of his way, so I got his IM from Brian Slocum. We started talking and began to hang out a lot. Ed Manfre was his good friend, because both of them went to the same High School. I began chilling with the two fartknockers on a regular basis, because finally I felt like I had a group of guys that I could relate to! The rest is history! My infamous dance parties, Brown House, the good times at Eat N Park, Adventures in Idiocy, turning 21, hitting the Coney and many experiences I'll never forget... "That bitch needs to get a fucking life!" lol. The both of them graduated and began their lifelong endeavors in the real world. Ed moved out to LA and Jas-E is living and working in Pittsburgh.
6. The Coney~ I became a bouncer and saw the inner workings of college night life. I learned that a lot of girls get around, and that many of them are nasty. People really kiss your ass if your important and the hotties push their boobs in your face to get what they want. Believe me, many have tried and failed.... but that's why I do a good job. Some drunk people can get rediculously stupid and it gets annoying.
7. My ladies~ I met Niki and Hillary back at the Treehouse, and Bethany was introduced to me while visiting the Honors College. Every week we'd get together to watch a TV show and go to huge keggers on the weekends. I went through several stages while I was here at IUP. In the beginning I partied like a freak! As I grew older, I moved from greek parties to house parties, house parties to apartment parties and apartment parties to the bars. After I did the uptown thing for a while... I became a bouncer. Around this point I began NOT enjoying the scene anymore, mainly because it felt like I was working on my days off. That's not cool! All of us would go dancing back in the early days, but last year the circumstances pretty much made the Coney a rareity. Ms. Olsyn got engaged... Yenfag continued to obsess over a boy and Hillarious couldn't stay out because of her busy schedule. With Eddie and Jason not around anymore, I started spending time with them at their crib. The four of us took turns cooking dinner and renting movies. It was a great time getting away from all the hustle and bustle.
Nikmyster is happily married now and lives in England, Hillary is working in Virginia and Bethany is still in Greensburg.
Well, in a sense I guess I have grown up. I'm finishing up school, looking for a well paying job, a meaningfull relationship... and worying about more important things than shaking my booty. I hope you enjoyed my little montage of memories! Talk to you later.
