Went down to Teh Pat over the weekend and had a really restful time, yet I seem to have done a fair amount. Phillip Island has a chocolate factory. There's a dinky little tour you can go on (for a pretty penny) with a whole bunch of engineering toys revolving around chocolate. You can play with toy trains. There's a maze toy with a chocolate ball prize if you win. There's a literal tonne of chocolate. And you can make a chocolate of your very own with a drawing thingy. It was diverting, and I was sarcastic and cynical throughout, yet still amused. I walked on the beach at Cowes, had lunch at a micro-brewery, played many a board game, drank some good wine, had breakfast in Inverlock, discussed the best practices in refining penguin oil, and to top it all off I don't think I got burnt the entire weekend. That last point is quite miraculous indeed.

When I got home, my sister, her husband and her two kids popped in just before heading back overseas. I couldn't quite work out what they were doing, because they stayed and chatted for an hour or so. The two of us aren't particularly close. There was no physical contact for instance - not a hug or any of that. I'm wondering if she was trying to form some kind of connection? I just don't think she knows how, or what she'd gain (from me? from anyone?). Her interpersonal skillz are worse than mine. She has, and always has, a way of being sarcastically dismissive that is at odds with my way of being sarcastically dismissive. She does it without the irony and self-awareness that I try to mark my words with. She's an odd one.
