It started with just one, then another and another. Soon I was going through them like no man's business. Yes, I have had a wardrobe toss-out day, where most of the jackets, t-shirts, shirts and pants I had not worn for years or which had some insane sentimental value were pulled off their hangers and tossed on the bed... or the floor. This brings to light several questions:
1) You keep your t-shirts on hangers? Yes, yes I do. And the jeans are clipped on to hangers too, not even folded over hangers. My chest-of-drawers isn't large and I have a large wardrobe.
2) What insanely sentimental clothing could you possibly have?
* Grey cargo pants I'd worn for years. I even took them to New Zealand after Claire had sewn new pockets into them (which fell apart on the Franz Josef Glacier) but sadly have to admit no longer fit me after I started riding and playing squash. Farewell!
* A shirt I'd bought with Kim on new year's eve, which doesn't actually have any sentimental value now; just monetary. It was frickin' expensive and it never fit and I never wore it. Ah, the pressures of women and shopping. In fact quite a few pressure buys went in today's purge. I'm never listening to you women again! (At least not until next time you speak.)
* My first suit has gone the way of the dodo. I was obviously a much bigger boy when I bought it because it simply looks like a tent on me. Perhaps it always looked like that and I was unable to see it, so amazed was I by the fact I had a suit.
3) What bought on this sudden need to turf your clothes? Well, surprisingly it wasn't the plastic bag put in the letter box, because that was supposed to be put out a coupla weeks ago. (Nice timing, Ben.) I actually just ordered three new t-shirts from
Threadless's $10 sale and I've decided that even the t-shirts that are falling apart are not worthy of practicing squash in. Thus, I shall play my sportz in t-shirts I value. Sweet.
4) What are you doing with all these clothes? Either tossing them onto a large pine tree for my inaugural Christmas II celebrations or charitably finding somewhere that'll accept such fine wares.
So, it's a new day. Let's go shopping maybe?
