Overall, I was a little dissatisfied with camping this weekend. There really wasn't a lot to do there. I read a book and a bit and wrote a few notes for nano, but the rest of the time was all about cooking, cleaning and eating (although not in that order). Breakfast might take 5 minutes to prepare in Melbourne, but in the bush you have to boil the water to clean the dishes from your last meal, scrub the dishes and then pay very close attention to see that your meal doesn't burn overly. Then eat and repeat.
I don't think I've slept in colder conditions in all my life. Next time I vote for camping closer to summer. (There was a time on the Murray River that was pretty cold, but I'd been delightfully sunburnt that day and so was toasty warm that night.) I certainly wasn't prepared.
The drive was the best part of the weekend. Black Spur is always delightful to drive through.
I think my hair still smells of campfire smoke.
