Today I was sitting at my desk next to the window that looks out toward the rather busy street of Hemmeter. I watched as the neighborhood kids ran back and forth across the street. My street isn't really the epitome of childhood activity. It's just retired people whose kids moved away because of job opportunities outranking their loyalty to Saginaw Township. Anyway, the sounds of a child screaming took my attention away from my computer screen. I look outside and see a child on the ground, his stomach slit open with his innards on the pavement. He had been hit by a car. I had to double take. I noticed the road appeared a lot closer than usual. There was also no snow on the ground.
I thought to myself how it couldn't be real, and in fact it wasn't, for the next few minutes I was able to manipulate my every move. My dream, this was more of a nightmare, had become lucid. I have been trying for years to do this, I finally got a taste of it. It was a rather unfortunate first lucid experience.
