ANGEL'S HOUSE

Oct 19, 2010 14:20

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.

This is why we do what we do daayeen, dayoud according to the immortal words of Don Estorbo de la Bodega Dominicana, http://estorboloco.blogspot.com/ .

This photograph was taken by a colleague in one of our early childhood development project schools in Sasolburg in the Free State, South Africa. These kids deserve all the help they can get so that they are taught in a safe and colourful environment. To ensure that they are cared for properly, don’t go hungry and are equipped to meet the challenges of their futures.

Let’s Do It

SAINT OF THE DAY

I’m absolutely fascinated by these guys and all the murder and mayhem they got up to in the name of religion. No wonder Charles Kimball states that "More wars have been waged, more people killed, and more evil perpetrated in the name of 'God' and religion, than by any other institutional force in human history.”

Today’s Saints Diary commemorates the life and times of St Artemius Megalomartyr, (No he was NOT one of the Three Musketeers that was Aramis). Saint Art is a shining example that you shouldn’t do to others that you do not want done to yourself. He used to be a military leader and a fanatical Arian heretic who hunted and persecuted monks, nuns and bishops.

Eventually he got bored of killing the blessed, caught The Spirit and turned on the Pagans murdering and torturing them instead - once a megalomaniac always a megalomaniac. But the wheel turned and the heathens caught him, tortured him instead and lopped off his head in 363.

Jeez, what happened to turning the other cheek?

Moral of the Story

If you want to win friends and influence people leave your former best buddies in peace (not in pieces) - they might just get a little bit pissed off and things might end very, very badly for you. Sainthood ain’t fun - it’s a painful process and there seems to be a lot of bloodshed involved.
