JOZI - MY CITY MY HOME # 6

I went to the old gasworks close to the centre of town today to take some photographs.  It's a huge complex that can easily be converted to loft living, art spaces or something similar. In the meantime it's sinking back into the earth waiting in vain to be saved. It's looks like a mix between Gotham City and Art Noveau architecture.

Almost all the windows has been broken. The structure is nearly four stories high and I wonder how the extensive damage was done. It's amazing how easily abandoned buildings are vandalized.

An Interior view . I played around with Photoshop and got some interesting colour contrast.

African Sky Blue. I love the contrast of the sky against the rusting steelwork and red bricks.

Another shot against a blue sky with strong linear lines

In the belly of the beast. The interior was so dark that I took a chance with this shot and enhanced it with Photoshop to accentuate the rusting machinery.

The Old Gasworks is close to Liebermans Potteries where I parked my car. I popped in there afterwards and the owner said I was lucky that I didn't fall down some damn hole. There was "Keep Out"  signs all over but I couldn't resist
