Wow! I haven't posted since March!
Well, I have been rather busy and haven't really had much about which to post of late, until this week. So, I'm going to give you a brief rundown on the happenings in the life of the Bowski!
I have decided not to pursue a career in teaching. At this stage in my life, the doors are closed. I don't have the time, nor the resources, to try to acquire coaching experience. Furthermore, I'm not exactly certain I would like the idea of prepping students for exams rather than actually teaching. Besides, even if I am lucky enough to get a job, as soon as a coaching position opens, my contract wouldn't be renewed simply because they need an open teaching slot in which to place the new hire. Maybe academics and ministry will work together at some point in life. However, it's going nowhere right now. 'Nuff said. Moving on.
I applied for two more library positions. One at ETSU. One at East Carolina University. I got turned down for them both. (And quite honestly, I'm kind of glad! Because . . . reason is coming up!)
Therefore, I have accepted that, for some unknown reason, I am supposed to remain at Walmart. So, while I am there, I'm going to make the best of it and work my way up the food chain. And I have been working my butt off of late, pursuing opportunities and trying to move into a supervisor's position. Well, all of this hard work has been noticed (and I've actually been commended for it lately!) and may potentially lead to a completely awesome opportunity.
While our Market Management team was visiting this week, I had an opportunity to speak with the manager over Electronics in our market about the possibility of pursuing higher positions with the company. He then asked me to come with him and he introduced me to the Market Manager (ie the head honcho of East TN Walmarts), told him a little about my situation, my work experience, and my degrees. He also said I was one of his "top notch guys, very intelligent" and stated he believed I would be an excellent candidate for the Asst. Manager Training program. The Market Manager asked me to email the Market HR Manager and give full details on my education and work experience. I sent the email that day and within five minutes, the HR manager called to store! He commended me for my credentials and asked if I would be willing to relocate to Knoxville, Nashville, or Memphis to start in the management program, to which I responded "Definitely!" He said he would forward my message to his colleagues in the other markets in the state and put in a word for me. He then asked me to let him know if there was anything he could personally do to help me!
I don't have a time frame. I don't know what will happen from this. The good news is that I finally have some hope on which to cling. I've prayed, pleaded, and begged God for some direction on what I am supposed to do. After months of famine, it seems that He is starting to possibly open doors.
Keep praying for me and I will keep you posted. Who knows? My next post could be informing you of an upcoming move!
