You know, it is amazing how some minor changes in life and a completely new approach in prayer can lead to unimaginable results. God has been doing some amazing things in my life this week. So, here's the skinny.
I have gained a much needed political contact within Elizabethton's school system. One of the bigwigs goes to my church. He said he would try to help me and suggested I try to start substitute teaching for the school system. This started the gears turning and why I never considered this before, I do not know. (Well, I was blinded by doubt and fear, but I digress.)
I had considered maybe switching to third shift at work to open up my days for a 2nd job. Then, after my conversation with my new contact, it dawned on me to sub during the day. I prayed about it, discussed it with my spiritual mentors, and started looking into it. I discussed the possibility with my manager and she was fine with it. So, I spent my day off on Wednesday making connections and seeing what happened.
Long story short, (pending final approval after I receive the results of my FBI background check) I have been accepted as a sub in Carter County. Over the course of the next five to six weeks, I should be able to sub in Unicoi and Washington Counties, as well as Johnson City and Elizabethton. In the span of 5 hours, all of this happened! I was also able to make a connection in Washington County and it looks like one of the bigwigs there is willing to help me out.
Then, I informed my manager of my findings today and she said we need to discuss the possible move to 3rd with the store manager. It looks good because someone on 3rd is wanting to switch to days. It could just be a simple shift trade. Nevertheless, it is up to the store manager. If he says no way, at least I can sub on Wednesdays for the time being.
Furthermore, I have gone five days without a cigarette!
Please, keep praying. God truly is doing awesome things in my life right now. Honestly, I haven't felt this closely connected to God in a very long time. Yet, I still feel as if I am not close and my desire to grow closer to Christ continues to build. Very exciting things!
Thank you all for your support and prayers. Stay tuned because I know the Lord has more in store for me! Trust in Him completely. Boast only in the cross of Christ. Pray and ask Him how He can use you to further the kingdom and for His glory. You will be amazed at what follows!
