While altariel has been off proving rather effectively that the patriarchy is an ass, I have been preparing ANOTHER STEW! Oh yes.

This one is a sort of hot-pot, and I'm posting the recipe in order to compare with the previous one, because I think it is interesting how much the same ingredients can be prepared for a long, slow cook in a completely different ( Read more... )

Do you know, I was just a few moments ago envying altariel her day, issuing verbal smackdowns to sexists while the man of the house cooks for her. One could do worse these days.

It's not quite stew weather here, although it's close. It's more sort of a cool late summer, and I'm off to buy some mint plants and possibly some basil that I can hopefully-not-kill over the winter.

We're having some lovely days, actually. Bright and sunny (slightly cloudy today, mind), in the upper 50s/lower 60s. Just a bit chilly if you're wearing a T-shirt. The key thing is that it is now dark when we sit down to eat in the evenings. And that is the official signal for the start of the stew-season.

That is one of the best things about a stew.

I've just taken the hotpot out of the oven to let it rest on the top until A. gets back in, so I can do the hour of crisping... It smells *really good*.
