It's Christmas Eve and I am... at work. But I'm not resenting it quite so much today. The reason, I think, is because nobody is here. Of the thousands who usually work in the building, there can't be more than a couple hundred still around. In the biggest company, John Hancock, those who weren't fortunate enough to be on vacation the rest of the year left around 1:30. Deloitte, another big company, gave all their employees the day off. I don't know what Evergreen did, but I don't see too many of them walking around either. That leaves security, the janitors (who will also be leaving early), possibly facilities (though I haven't seen them yet), building workers, small shop vendors, and a few stragglers who are taking an opportunity to attack a backlog of work. Both the lead supervisor and the manager have gone home. That leaves only the Director of Security, and his last card activity was two hours ago, and it wasn't to enter his office. I think it's safe to say that he probably isn't here either. Furthermore, the supervisor on duty is a laid back and sociable guy, the kind you don't mind being around. I'd still much rather be home, but work tonight shouldn't be bad.
Beth should be coming to pick me up tonight and we'll head for her home, but until then, I am here, and I am relatively content. But I am also rather hungry. I've had Hot Pockets for dinner every work day for the past five days and, admittedly, I'm growing a little tired of them. Maybe I'll order something. Pizza, Chinese, noodles... heck, I don't know, just something that's not a Hot Pocket. Though if ordering fails, I do have more of them sitting in the freezer.
Well, enough rambling. Not sure if I'll actually get a chance to post this tonight, but merry Christmas to everyone.
Or happy Kwanzaa, if that's your thing.
