Brief comment since I'm still struggling with a bunch of other things right now. (Including teh WOW! of Vista.)
But the latest links
rigel pointed to read all too familiar. LJ was originally about community, 6A seemed to understand community, but SUP doesn't seem to, other than as a group of inertially-invested suckers from whom they can suck eyeball views. ::looks around, guiltily:: Oh, wait, that's how SUP sees us.
Hey, maybe Google will ride to the rescue and come up with a lightweight community-based journaling system that every now and then throws in a text ad. (I know they have Blogger, but it's not the same.) I may have to install AdBlock one of these days, too. (And, yeah, I have an account on IJ, too. I got it when people started leaving.)
As far as the strike goes--yeah, I'll probably participate but I think it will be misunderstood, if not ignored, by SUP but it I would judge taking part as somewhat above deciding to vote for the Nader Creature.
