On the first of the month, I found a letter scotch-taped to our apartment door, informing us that at the end of March, our month-to-month lease arrangement was going to have to change. We're facing an increase in rent, and we have to choose between a 6-, 9-, or 12-month lease unless we want to pay even more rent to maintain our current month-to-month set-up.
So again, I'm having to think about the question: "Do I even want to live here? And if so, for how long?"
True fact: I've been in this apartment for 9 years. And yet, every time I get a bill for local emergency taxes (which I can either pay quarterly or for a year in advance), I've always paid quarterly. Because I never thought I'd be here this long.
Somehow, it's not as bad to just happen to live here as opposed to writing on paper that I intend to live here.
That kinda sucks.
