Oh, do I ever love it when something happens out-of-the-blue like this.
You see, when I was much younger - as in, before my parents divorced, I had a one-shot opportunity to learn something I've always wanted to do. I didn't get to learn it because the instructor didn't have any loaner materials, and my parents wouldn't buy what I needed for the extra-curricular course.
What did I need? A guitar.
A couple of years ago I had a chance to play Guitar Hero on my friend's X-box when he and his wife stopped in here while visiting relatives in the area. So, as fun as that was, I couldn't help thinking (and actually saying), "This is fun, but what would be great would be if there was a game like this that actually taught you how to play a real guitar."
Someone else must have had the same thought. May I introduce you to a new discovery (for me) - - -

What did you think? I think "awesome" just got shoved to a whole new high! Oh, and since I've been waiting for this for something on the order of 35 years (or 40?), it's about freaking time! lol
Anyhow, I showed this to my wife, and between the game and Heartland America having a year-end sale that includes a genuine PEAVY electric guitar for $149.99 + shipping (because the guitar & amp are "heavy" by postal shipping standards) we're looking seriously at getting this sometime soon. Even if I never become famous, closing the door on this and learning to play the guitar will fulfill a life-long desire, and I might even be able to get into a "local" bar-band to make a few bucks for fun.
06Jan 12 - Update: Yay, after dropping $75 (after tax) I have a working guitar to plug into this game. Next, I have to get the game (another $80) - for the PS3, since the PC version has not been released yet and won't be before July 1.
