Silly question?

Alright, I use G-mail for my primary email address.  I'm wanting to experiment with using google-voice, and think I have the equipment set-up to use it, but first I want to terminate Google Buzz.  With extreme and permanent prejudice.  There's just one problem - I don't know what that will do to my contact list or my ability to do voice chats.

Does anyone out there in "friends land" know for sure?  Thanks.
