Amigash teh bird flu!!111

So everyone is bent out of shape about bird flu. Yes it is tragic that so many fowl are dying around the world, but the flu has so far killed fewer people than lightning this year. Anyone remember West Nile virus? I didn't think so. South Park had a great epsiode on a parody of this very topic.

Why are we so worried about this bird flu? I understand that IF it were to mutate so that it could be transferred from human to human then it could be quite serious, but what are the chances of this happening though? I would be more concerned about the Ebola virus. 50% of people known to have been recently infected by bird flu from an infected bird have died. That's a 50% survival rate that speaks nothing of age or state of health. The worst strain of Ebola virus has a survival rate of 10%. Why isn't everyone going apeshit about Ebola virus mutating into a strain that could become airborn? Currently Ebola kills its victims far too quickly (under a week) for it to be spread globally, and infection is only induced if you come in contact with infected bodily fluids. If it were to become airborn though, this limiting factor of the death of the host would be quite negligible. Where is the news coverage on this I wonder?
