My hips hurt but my heart is just fine :)

Well I left after work thursday, our states capital in my sights for alittle vacation with my one true love. Friday we woke up started our day then headed for Stone Mountain. Our plan was to camp at the foot of the mountain then spend all saturday walking around enjoying the Scottish Festival and Highland games and then make our way up the mountain itself by skycar then trek down on foot.
Friday evening Angie and I got our camp sight and made our way through the little winding paths to our plot of HARD GEORGIA CLAY. After clearing off all of the loose rocks and acorn like nuts it was time to set up camp.

OH NO! The tent wasn't all there! Oh well... I'm a Blanton..and Blantons figure things out. Damn! If I had just listened to my father's boy scout stories. What I had to work with was two rods, one tent (no tent foot,no steaks, and no top cover) , a hammer, and some rocks left over from previous campers... I jammed those rods in the clay as far as my 205lb body could. I put the rocks behind the poles to brace and the rest of the rocks around the sides to hold us down so a gust of wind doesn't try to blow us away... Our tent WAS standing but I was tired and hungry.. not to mention angry.. I wanted to punch the tent in the face. Angie got me back to my senses thank god..one of the reasons why I love this girl... She can always make me smile. We ate.. and headed back to our tent... We FORGOT our pillows back at GSU village!!...Dammit! Now we were laughing. we were having such a horrible time BUT at the same time such a wonderful time. I used my book bag as a pillow and Angie used me......as a pillow. I think we got 3 hours of sleep between us. It was cold as..as..well it was coldddd when we awoke 6:00 in the morning to a little boy saying over and over. "I like fishing..fishing's my life!" I had to pee so bad.. the worst case of morning wood ever and I had to trek up a hill dizzy from no sleep and walk 20yards to the bathroom... My hips were bruised from sleeping on the hard ground.. so were Angie's.. We got up finally and cleaned up the site. it was a beautiful cool saturday morning and we headed over to the Festival.

The rest of the day went swell. After the night previous we still hiked down Stone Mountain with no complaints. We had the best time walking around all day and taking it all in. I didn't see any balls up kilts this year..maybe next year.

We stayed back at The Village Sat. night and got some of the best sleep ever... though when we awoke I was more sore than I had been. Our bodies were hating us. we played Mario 64 ALL DAY and then walked to The Varsity for some chili dog action..say all the good things about The Varsity you want but it SUCKED! Over priced greasy food isn't my thing, I suppose. Played some more Mario 64 getting as many power stars as possible before going to bed..drove back this morning.

I wouldn't trade this for the world. I had the best time ever. I can't wait for next year.....but you can be sure that I'm bringing an air mattress this time.
