I guess this is a yearly post a year late

Job closed up. Was unemployed for a few months. Bank account got sucked dry. Unemployment ran out so I wrote my government official about the lack of employement. I bought a handgun a some bullets so I could end myself without fanfare. Then I got hired through the county. Ended up working there on a 9 month probationary period. Turned the department on its head and then some. Now I'm a full-time employee. It is only 7 minutes drive away so I am there and back with little effort and little stress.

Gryphon's Delight blew the rear axle. Managed to get enough cash to fix it (just over $1000 in parts and labor, even after buying all the parts myself). After the repair the old parts were literally cracked in half. I also fixed the 38-year-old air conditioning system and updated it to modern r134a. It provides decent cooling so I don't bake, but tips the engine temp a bit high. I also got some electric fans on the radiator to help and it seems to keep it just under the boil-over point on hot days (100*F+). I really wanted to paint it this year, but I just don't have the funds.

The car is still running well. Had a few hiccups here and there but nothing major. I replaced the swaybar end links over a weekend and nearly passed out in the parking lot from exertion and poor health. Thankfully I manged to get everything together. Need to work on the brakes at some point, but they are still doing what they need to. Only had minor tune-up stuff and some cleaning to keep it running.

Both vehicles are due for registration in august, and I don't know which will be the one to not pass inspection, seeing as the car is modified quite a bit for racing, and the Gryphon's Delight is not supposed to need emissions testing at all ... though I figure they will find some kind of test it has to pass just because they (the regulating agengy for emissions) hate it with a passion.

Still basically broke with having to make payments on the replacement car and all the things I've had to fix or replace. I haven't had a single month where I have not lost money. It will probably be another 2 years before I start making any kind of spare money, providing I can curb some costs somehow. I'll probably hit ebay and see if I can sell off a few odd things. After a trip to the range in a few days I'll also be selling the handgun off. I have various medical appointments coming up now that I have steady insurance through work, so I expect to get some better meds and stuff.

See you in another two years for the annual update ...
