Shining Moments of the GDR #34672601234

Summer 1950, Berlin:
The yet unformed GDR (German Democratic Republic) attempts to stage a spontaneous-seeming
"coup" of East Berlin children rising up against the depraved West, and these children were to flood
into West Berlin, take over governmental buildings and official stages and then call on the Volkspolizei
for assistance in holding their ground. Instead, the little children, upon venturing into the veritable
Disneyland of capitalism, were invited into shops and given free candy and presents, and hot lunch.
Many refused to go home after their fancy day out in the West, and of course immediate propaganda
efforts were made by the GDR to make the case that the children were seduced, abused, corrupted.
"Ha ha."

(inspired to mention that because of "Goodbye, Lenin"...a decent, German, Wall Nostalgia film)

And now, for another nostalgic moment with my most celebrated hat:

I miss it so. Apparently my whole Halloween '02 vision of leetle boy stealing treasure and getting chased
through woods by evil birds was plagiarized TO THE POINT in that new Radiohead music video. Of course,
my costume didn't include stuffed, gentile, tea-partying woodland critters stapled to my body, so I guess
it's aight.
