I win!
I filed a complaint through the better business bureau and my state attorney general's office and rejected clearwire's initial response that they couldn't do anything for me and that I'd agreed to their terms of service.
this is a note from their final mail to me in which they agreed that their service was not appropriate for my usage:
"Clearwire is not suitable for serious online gamers, customers who download large amounts of data, or customers who intend to use the service for streaming video."
In other words, clearwire is not a valid broadband alternative, nor are they capable of spelling my name properly. So they admit that they're wrong in spite of repeatedly asserting that I should have known better. At least I'm getting out of business with these assholes:
"Clearwire apologizes if Mr. Quakenbush feels he was mistreated.
Clearwire has determined that our service is not suitable for Mr. Quackenbush's needs and urges him to contact us at 1-888-253-2794 in order to initiate the cancellation process. Per our Terms and Conditions of service, accounts do not cancel until such time as we have received our leased modem back. Upon contacting us, Mr. Quakenbush will be provided with a prepaid UPS shipping label for the equipment return. Once the modem has been received by Clearwire, his account will be cancelled without penalty."
I'm glad to be done with them.
I'm glad to be done with them.
