You know, at home, I have a complete set of the Infamous Bibles. Every single delightful one of them. Sometimes the thought of it breaks my heart-- my poor Buggre Alle This Bible, please pardon my language, sitting alone and unregarded in the back room. Is it heretical?

It's... I wouldn't say heretical. It's.

I read well above my age level. I read Le Morte d'Arthur when I was eight. A translation, of course -- I've never learned French -- but I would always borrow books from anyone I could, and nobody ever had books for children, so I've read a great deal of adult books.

Like novels? Although to be perfectly honest, I never understood what is so wicked about them. It may not be healthy to read them all the time, but cakes aren't healthy to eat all the time and nobody thinks they're wicked.

Not-- novels, per se, I don't really think there's anything so wrong with novels. That isn't what I meant. Just.

There are some sorts of novels which are-- er. Which do not have particularly wholesome subjects. Novels about things which people really should not be reading about. Especially young people.

Anne, my dear, there are certain things that it is better not to know.

I've been told that many times, but I've never understood why.

I know it seems unfair, but... on occasion it is necessary to have a little faith.
