Majel Barrett
So I rarely post about celebrities and such, but I found out today that Majel Barrett-Roddenberry died today. For those of you who don't know, she was Gene Roddenberry's wife and contributed to every single Trek project, playing Nurse Chapel in the original series and animated series, Lwaxana Troi in TNG and DS9, and the voice of the Starfleet computer in all the series and movies, including the upcoming J.J. Abrams flick, and even some of the video games I believe. She was a huge supporter of the Trek fandom, appearing at many conventions, helping produce lots of Roddenberry's work to keep both the Trek franchise and his other projects alive. She was one of my favourite actresses and I always loved her performances as Lwaxana, playing the powerhouse uber-mom. The Trek fandom has lost an icon, and it makes me sad. Rest in peace, Ms. Barrett.
