The Other Twenty-20 World Cup
I'm not sure what percentage of my cricket-following friends routinely keep up with Women's Cricket, but I've just been keeping track of the [Edit: semi-final final group stage match] of the Women's T20 World Cup, between England Women and Australia Women, and I have to say, Sarah Taylor is just phenomenal. England Women have quite a wealth of talent with both bat and ball, but for my money* Taylor's sheer consistency and ability to pace an innings is just a cut above. I wish that the women's game featured on TMS a bit more often, but I will be getting the video highlights from the ECB website later.
England Women won by the way. Pulling back a required run-rate that was climbing towards 9 an over at the mid-way point to win with almost 2 overs to spare. A beautifully timed 65no by Taylor, ably assisted by a ferocious 33 off 17 balls from Danielle Wyatt getting them comfortably clear of the line.
*and I mean "money" entirely metaphorically here, I am really not a gambling man when it comes to cricket.
