Still Neighbors
Hayao Miyazaki is not, after all, dead. philfoglio made a post with sad news, suggesting that Miyazaki had died of a stroke. Apparently thiis is untrue, to the delight of animation fans everywhere! So, the big forest spirit is alive and well, and still our neighbor!
However, the news gets even better, Gentle Reader. As I googled for news about the rumored death, I came across the Japan opening of "Tales from Earthsea" on July 8, Studio Ghibli's latest effort. Yes, it is indeed Ursula LeGuin's Earthsea, and if anyone could do justice to those volumes, it would be Miyazaki. I can scarcely wait! I was afraid I would have to watch it knowing that it was Miyazaki's last, but now I can delight in it unfettered by grief!
