Jimmy Buffett is an amazing entertainer. Went to see his show at Shoreline last night, with
rowanf, and we had a blast eating picnic goodies from Whole Foods and watching the crowd in their amazing hats. I saw palm trees, flamingos, parrots, sharks, and pirate hats. Everybody was happy and relaxed, and having a great time.
Jimmy puts on a good show, for sure. I was dancing around, moving in my seat, and generally having a spanking great time. The food was great, the music wonderful, the company stellar.
In the middle of the show, there was a video sequence where someone asked the moral equivalent of "What would Jesus do?" for people like me. What would Jimmy Buffett do? I realized instantly that I could easily decide this was the proper question for almost any situation, as a sort of appropriate moral compass. The man believes in tolerance, forgiveness of human foibles, the power of recreation, love, fun, happiness, laughing at himself, taking care of the world and one another and a lot of other good things.
