"Fall"-ing Behind

Sep 16, 2008 16:10

Wow, well it must be fall because here I just “fell” behind on my blog!... eh get it? Cuz it’s fall? And I Fell? Oh nevermind…

RWTB: On the surface it’s been business as usual at RWTB but the truth is that this is one of the busiest times of the year for us. Mr. Rosenbach is still nailing out the promotions for the 3rd quarter and the Black Belt letters are out! So full speed ahead straight on till December.

This week I start my After-school martial arts hour in Hooper. So I’ll be busy on my “off” days as well as my “on”.

Football Party at the Fremont Studio on Saturday! Don’t forget that!

PERSONAL:

Holly’s Graduation: This past weekend my wife Holly had her graduation ceremony from the Universal College of Healing Arts. She still has some clinic hours to complete before she can officially be a graduate but she’s almost done! It’s a weird feeling. I’m not used to having her home on the weekends. She’s going to be applying for her temporary license while she works towards taking the “boards” which she has to take to officially become a Licensed Massage Therapist. She is still taking classes towards here Applied Science Degree, but those are less frequent.

The Great Plains Poetry Pile-Up: This weekend Midland Lutheran College is putting on a HUGE poetry slam! I’m a big fan of these things so I really try to promote them, I’m going to be a volunteer during the events. It’s open to the public so anyone who is interested please come! RWTB members, this event is hosted by one of our own RWTB Black Belt Instructors Dr. Henry Krusiewicz It takes Place at Midland Lutheran College  in Kimmel Theatre (900 N. Clarkson, Fremont, NE 68025). I can’t emphasize how cool this slam is, this kind of thing doesn’t even happen in Omaha annually, but for the second year in a row it is happening… in Fremont! These poets are some of the best in the nation. Some of them run their own slams, some of them have won in national poetry slam competitions, it’s just really cool. The poems are entertaining also! The whole format is designed in a way that the poets really have to impress the audience because… the audience does the judging. This kind of environment makes for some very fun, (sometimes funny) and usually high energy (or emotion) poems.

Here’s the Schedule:

Friday Sept 19th
¨ 7pm, Prelim Bout 1
¨ 9pm, Prelim Bout 2

Saturday Sept 20th
¨ 2pm, Prelim Bout 3
¨ 5pm, 2nd Chance Semi-finals
¨ 8pm, Finals

Webcomic: www.kickscomic.com is my webcomic, I know I know, you’ve heard about it, but this IS the personal section of my blog, and this is probably the major thing I’ve been doing with whatever free time I have. Well I have a guest strip coming up at (I kid you not) Awesome Marcus Ninja. (no not OUR marcus) it’s going up NEXT Monday. I was so pumped that I even colored it. www.marcusninja.com is the site. If you aren’t doing anything check it out, I think it’s pretty funny. Also a cool little note, my guest comic is the FIRST guest comic that they’ve ever run! I think that’s pretty cool, pretty big honor for me. Also I’ve finished 30 strips so I’m going to start slowly advertising the existence of my strip beyond the confines of this blog. Until recently this has been the only place I’ve even mentioned it. Check it out, currently doing a storyline that involves some very familiar faces.
