Well, you can rent in the Union Station area, but not within the budget of anyone I know. At a guess, I'd say you're into the $2.5-3.5K/month range. All luxury condos. A nice-ish 1BR in a decent area downtown is going to run you $1k/mo inclusive. The further out you go, the cheaper it gets. Union is the central station for every form of Transit in the city, so getting there is a breeze, but 15 minutes is kinda a tight fit during rush-hour to get anywhere in T.O. To be honest Jim, unless you make quite a bit of $$$ I'd say you may need to relax your expectations a bit. Hogtown ain't a cheap place to live.

However...

Within 30 minutes transit of Union Station, your world opens up a GREAT deal. This time frame offers you the Queen West and Bathurst St area (the centre of the universe, really) where you can find decent, relatively cheap accomodation, be close to the heart of the nightclub district and still be within an easy TTC ride to work. There;'s also Chinatown, Kensington Market, ANYWHERE along the lower half of the Yonge/University/Spadina subway line and a fair few neighbourhoods along the East side of Queen/King Sts (that I'm a little less familliar with) too.

What are your neighbourhood requirements?
Grocceries, TTC, Schools, movie theatres, nightclubs, restaurants, level of seediness (something you kinda need to think about here, unfortunately)?
