Show Review...it's been a while.

May 29, 2007 13:25

The show starts, not with a bang, and not with a whimper-not even with the thud-thud-thud bassline which will set the tempo for the entire show. This show starts with a generous heaping helping of Dave Hamrick's onerous egomania. ( Read more... )

You've never been much of a participater in the first place. Why bother commenting if you don't enjoy it? Why bother coming out if you don't have a good time?

Wow..., this is getting amusing.

Anyway..., that fascist meathead you're talking to is... Ben.

LOL.

You guys play nice.

Btw..., good review..., I actually like the silver ninjas. At least a little bit. They are something different that not many people around here have heard before.(refering to what Shadowmusic up there commented about)

Anyway. Sorry I missed the show..., would have been nice to see the guys.

But..., again..., why do any of you people go out, and deal with all the silly bullshit that that craptastic club has to offer.

Cya around.

I go out for the people. Because there are friends of mine I go there to see. Could I see them outside the club? Most certainly. But it's already there and conveniently contains many of the people with whom I wish to touch base. And because I'm especially good at ignoring the silly bullshit of that craptastic club.

Obviously, of the Silver Ninjas, I am not fond. I didn't find them to be something different. If I want noise, I'll hit up the 804 Noise collective and see when their next show is--glitchcore done artistic, rather than the patently silly stuff involving bleat-bleat noises with a zoot-zoot background. I like some noise, but I'm a bit of a queen about it.

I respect the fact that you are willing to sacrifice your own dignity to go to that club to meet with your friends. I know for a fact that none...., and I do mean None..., of my friends are worth going to that club for. Especially when I can just as easily go see them some other time during the week, and not have to put up with any stupidness.

As far as Silver Ninjas are concerned... They are a show, as much as they are a band. And... They are something different, if talking about seeing them at a "goth" club.
And..., I guess you just didn't want Noise that night. Because..., Silver Ninjas are a part of the 804 noise collective.

Plus..., look on the bright side. It could have been worse..., It could have been one of the mediocre, typical bands that generally play there.

Again..., sorry I wasn't there to bask in the shadow of the Ninja.

Then I'll put it this way, since you took offense to it the first time, which wasn't intended. Why come to a show where you're subjected to said megalomania? I'm not telling you to come, but asking why, if you didn't like what you saw and paid an extra two dollars for, then demand your extra two dollars back.
If the only enjoyment you got out of the show was ripping it a new one, why bother in the first place?

Well...in a less reactionary answer to said questions:
Being subjected to Dave's megalomania is one of the singular joys I experience in coming out to the night--he acts the part of a power-tripping whacko and I laugh my happy ass off. If I did find myself truly put out by him saying things like how he SAVED goth night or sacro is HIS night, I would have stopped coming ages ago, but the fact is I find it HILARIOUS. As Bill Hicks said, one more fevered little ego tainting our collective unconscious.

As for the Silver Ninjas, it was worth the extra two dollars, to me, to come out and have a good bit of inspiration to write a show review. To a writer, any reason to write is its own reward. Some people think I don't enjoy myself when I see a bad show...some people REALIZE that I enjoy myself even MORE when I see a bad show and the notebook comes out. The enjoyment of the show might have been entirely in ripping it a new one, but it wasn't only ripping it a new one--because that is its own justification.
