Once upon a time, about 5 years ago, I worked for Albertson's.  I only worked there for about 3 weeks, if I recall correctly. The memory of the job doesn't serve much except for maybe a few tidbits that help to remind me of what kind of person I am/ what my values are. First up, I have no ethics when it comes to business negotiations; all's fair even more so than in love and war. The rationale? Because the odds that the boss will be able to hire a better litigation lawyer than you can are pretty solid. Second, I find it rather insulting when a boss insists on having new hirees watch motivational videos to lead them to believe that the reason they don't like their job is because of their own attitude. I, on the other hand, would be more inclined to believe that the reason people don't like their jobs is because they aren't getting paid enough. Not getting paid enough still doesn't solve the matter regarding my attitude. I mean, money can make you less stressed about some things, but that doesn't necessarily translate into happiness. As much as I try to convince myself otherwise, money just can't solve everything.

So, I dropped a slight reference to my own attitude. After reading some of my past livejournal entries, I'm struck with a few possibilities. Either I type when I'm insanely bored, stressed, or frustrated (meaning I have enjoyment time, only it's not spent at the computer), or I'm just chronically bummed all the time. One scenario is entirely normal, only it looks worse than what it is; the other could be serious in a health threatening kind of way. If I were to analyze this, my first judgment would be that since I'm not already suffering from poor health, maybe this is all just normal. Granted, I did have a pretty decent burnout episode at work recently, but then again I have one of those kinds of jobs. And also, I am overweight, which could be interpreted as a health risk. However, my wieght has gone down significantly in the last year.... which maybe correlates to a deficit in LJ posts.... Is LJ bad for my health?

Like the Behaviorist I assume to be (mostly due to my jobs), my analyzation leads me to an important possibilty: LJ isn't killing me. Lj is my default place to go to when I'm letting life or myself beat myself up. So then the question becomes: How do I keep from beating myself up? How do I help myself to understand that the decisions I make are the correct ones, that I really am succeeding at looking out for my best interests all the while being simultaneously altruistic? Wait, don't answer that! I think I need to figure this out alone...
