Just a FYI for those of you who use Windows and Traktor for DJ'ing. I decided to open up the NI service center and install the latest version of the program... it will FUCK your Windows installation up in the worst possible way for someone who uses their machine for music. Apparently Native Instruments implemented this exciting, new way of handling midi I/O within the program.
The only problem was that, at least for me, this exciting, new way of handling midi meant that Traktor completely refused to recognise any of my physical midi I/Os on the soundcard, and none of my USB midi controllers. And that's not all. None of my programs could see any of my controllers or midi ports anymore.
At first I thought, OK I uninstall Traktor and install an earlier version, maybe that will solve the problem, right?
Wrong. Any earlier version of Traktor would just crash if I tried to run it, and my midi interfaces were still unrecognised by any of my other software.
SO.
I had to reinstall my goddamn OS last week and I was DJ'ing Friday.
Was I stressed? You bet!
[edit] Hehe forgot to metion that the offending version of Traktor DJ Studio is 3.4.1
The one that still works with no problems is version 3.3.2
