The Causeway and Beyond, Saturday Evening

Nov 24, 2007 15:59

Leo stopped at the Causeway to take one last look back at the island, and lit up a joint. This caused him to pause for a while, while he temporarily forgot that he was leaving. He was too busy remembering other things. Like some of the groovy folks he'd met. Cool kids, and cool adults. And cool adults were a rarity in the world.

He remembered the week before. Not all the details, but he remembered helping out, talking to people, giving comfort where he could.

He was glad he'd come. But now it was time to leave.

A little more than halfway down the causeway, the asphalt gave way to snow, and dirt. And the lamp posts became pine trees. It got colder, and Leo was glad of the long hair and beard that helped keep his head and face warm.

Eric Forman was cold, lost, hungry, and scared. The vista cruiser was dead, at least temporarily and he was out in the middle of nowhere. His journey of self discovery was not going as planned. And now he heard someone coming.

Leo could hear someone up ahead shouting. They sounded scared, and he hoped that whatever they were scared of didn't find him. Then he realized that they were scared of him. He supposed it made sense. You hear someone tromping around in the woods you're gonna get a little wary right?

"Hey Man." he said as he stepped into the open, smiling reassuringly.

"Leo?!" Eric had never been so happy and relieved to see someone in his entire life. He embraced his old friend, gone for so long. Leo returned the embrace.

"It's like the universe wanted us to find each other." Leo grinned. Then, he sobered and asked "So, do I know you Man?"

And so, Leo is gone. One OCD thread below for saying goodbye at the causeway, and then see later seasons of That 70's Show to see how things turned out.

goodbye leo
