I've been useless with updating this journal again. I'm still doing my Wii-fit but my weight etc hasn't changed much so I haven't bothered posting :) Climbing is going very well, I'm definitely improving and looking forward to being able to get outside come the summer. Also the nights are getting lighter which means I'll be able to start playing tennis again and pretending I'm middle-class.
Had a busy week last week,
I've just been skimming the Leeds Festival forums for the 09 fest. Tickets go on sale at the end of this month and I decided at the end of last year that I'm not going again, and the attitude on the forums has pretty much confirmed that.
AC/DC are quite strongly rumoured to headline, I've seen them before and they were "ok". I absolutely love them pre-recorded but felt they were a bit lacking live, I'd probably give them another shot though. That said there is SO much opposition to them playing. Comments along the lines of:
ACDC don't suit the tastes of the "majority of festivel goers"
and someone with a playlist full of identical indie bands saying: "irrelevant dad-rock"
"I'd much rather have a lineup like 07's than 08's for next year, having heavier bands this year brought too many newcomers to the festival which to me at least, made the atmosphere feel less like Leeds is all about. "
The other strong rumours for headlining acts are:
Radiohead
Kings of Leon
Arctic Monkeys
With:
Kaiser Chiefs
Rise Against
36 Crazyfists
The Rakes
Friendly Fires
Glasvegas
Florence and the Machine
White Lies
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Subways
Vampire Weekend
The Cribs
Named for other stages.
Radiohead I wouldn't mind but I think it's finally come to the point where the festival is no longer "for me". I'm not saying all the bands listed there are crap, just I don't like the vast majority (or their style of music doesn't interest me, especially live)
