Imagine, for a moment, that you were looking for a job and your options were the following. Which would you take and why?
Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes
The Accidental Magic Reversal Squad are looking for trainees - mainly "allrounders" who have proven their abilities in different areas of magic, but also with certain specialisms.
Pros I have a decent Charms NEWT so I could qualify for the Charms Reversal Team, and my overall scores are decent enough so I could have a shot at the allrounders job. Charms Reversal is also one of the easier disciplines. Also would be quite an excting job sometimes and you get to work with other teams like the MLE and Auror Support.
Cons as a whole the job can be rather dangerous so is it something I would want to do long term? Not all that many places on the Charms course and the allrounders course is highly selective.
The Obliviators are also looking for new trainees. They say that applicants need to be able to apparate, be aware of Muggle society so as not to draw attention to themselves, and be able to think strategically.
Pros The job is pretty straightforward and only requires NEWT passes plus a decent Charms grade, which I have. Being halfblood I can fit into the requirement regarding Muggle society, and I'm pretty good at apparating. I spoke to my examiner yesterday and he said he'd give me a reference if I needed to demonstrate that particular skill. It's also a useful job that has a lot of vacancies at the moment. Not as dangerous as the AMRS job.
Cons Isn't paid quite as much as the AMRS job, although still pays considerably more than my current one.
The Invisibility Task Force are looking for an office based operative, working as an assistant to their Head, Vladmir Oblansk. The job entails sorting requests and suggestions for new places and things to be hidden from Muggles in order of urgence and necessity before Mr Oblansk makes a final decision based on the successful applicant's report, and as his assistant the person who gets the job gets to travel all around the country with him on operational trips.
Pros Get to travel, opportunities for promotion, notoriously good boss, qualified due to Charms NEWT, pays well and you get to use your own opinion in your work.
Cons A certain portion of the salary may be reserved exclusively for expenses claims, office based work might be boring, can be quiet and some times and very busy at others, job could be annoying if the boss doesn't take to you.
Opinions, please?
