Postcards from Byron Bay

Weird place, lots of hippies and gypsies apparently living in harmony with estate agents and yuppies. And the place is alive; birds, bats, whales, dolphins - and enough lizards to freak out a pharaoh. The whole place seems populated entirely by friendly backpackers and surfers and the local economy seems to be built around live music venues and bookshops.

Blue skies on the first morning and I was seriously considering becoming a beach dwelling dole bludger for the rest of my life. It was mighty tempting. But then I saw this guy. And I thought; maybe I should go home, and maybe I should get a haircut.

I'm definitely thinking that one day I'll have to take a road trip up north, at least as far as Brisbane, and stop off again at Byron.

I'm told that nearby Nimbin is famous for its pot plants.
