I am watching some freaked out show called "Dexter".  One word.  Disturbing.  Some kind of "Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer" meets "CSI:Miami". With a twist of filmnoir narration but without Horatio's oneliners.  Disturbing. That's what I said.

dexter, csi, creepy

I've actually tried a similar approach with a timer, making them stay after class until they have made up for lost time. Worked pretty well, but as I constantly get new students into my classroom each period I can't use it unless there is free time after the class in question. All in all, around 100 kids go through my classroom each day :-)

Oh, I don't know. I think each age has it's specific problems you have to deal with. Takes different types of people to be good at teaching different age groups I think. I have no end of respect for people like you who take on the younger kids, I've tried it as a substitute now and then and I just don't know what to do with them. *relives horrible moments subbing in 2. grade*

Did you say 'subbing' or 'sobbing!' LOL

I've sure felt like sobbing a few times! And I'm going to put in an application with the powers that be that my kids skip the teenage thing. just be kids, and then adults. Those hormones sure are a pain to deal with.
