Hi

I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm a long -time "Maurice" fan, that just recently stumbled over this community. Last time I looked for "Maurice" fan fiction - what was it? 6 years ago? I found close to nothing, so I resigned myself. I'm glad to learn that there are other people about who love "Maurice" (even if this place looks a little quiet :)

Maurice was the first book I read in English (I'm Danish) when I was 16 - but even with a dictionary and reading it twice, anything beyond the basic menaing went entirely over my head. It helped a good deal when I read it 7-8 years later and saw the movie. But it wasn't until 2002-2003, I saw the movie again and completely fell in love with the story. Recently, when I read a short story of Forster's (The Machine Stops), I re-discovered him and for the first time really acknowledged just how good an author he is (this short story is available for free online -- and the best comment I have ever read on how technology such as the Internet may affect us).

I've explored a bit and found a number of different fics. It's been great to read some of them, and inspired me to take up writing again. I've spent the last years in the Starsky & Hutch fandom - much as I love the guys, I find it difficult to write about them. I guess that the world of "Maurice" feels closer and more recognisable to me as a Dane, than Starsky & Hutch's late 1970's LA

Finally, I come bearing gifts - in a way. I've recently scanned and converted "Maurice" into an ebook (well, at the moment it's just an RTF file...) . I can't (won't) put it up for online download, but you could always contact me. Even  if you don't have an ebook reader, it might be a good for a writer to have the ability to search the book on your computer.
