I had put my account on hold awhile back and was somewhat surprised when the automatically re-upped me at the end of the hold period. But then they offered me the second month free, so that's where I'm at now.

I'm not sure that the major/indie politics of it all has much to do with whether I keep it up or not. I'm into so many different kinds of music that I can always find something cool on it. In fact, it can be hard to know which direction to go with any given months worth of downloads.

And, honestly, even this far into the digital age, it's still hard for me to figure out sometimes if I'll be satisfied with just having MP3 for a certain album or if I'm going to want the CD. For example, I downloaded the new Robert Plant album, which I really like, but I like it so much that I feel like I want the CD as well. MP3s simply don't seem "archival" enough to me, which is probably how I fell about CDs before I first owned any of them back in the late '80s.

But MP3s just live in your computer and your listening device!

So those are my thoughts. Ultimately I'm thinking about quitting, but that decision will be based more on financial factors than anything else.
