I heard today (from a girl who went to Costa Rica) that people hardly ever get cancer there. This spawned a little contemplation which resulted in my theorizing.
If they don't have [much] cancer and Americans do, then with all lifestyle habits aside (i.e. consumption of tasty carcinogens), it makes sense that cancer comes from living here in "civilization." Too much stress from dealing with capitalism and toxic machinery seems like it would be enough to cause a disease in which the body's cells turn self destructive. Pointless social customs could also play a role. Obesity also can lead to cancer, which to me, puts our beloved corporations to blame. Most normal snack foods now contain partially hydrogenated vegetable oil in place of non-mechanically altered oils. We are the first generation to grow up consuming a lot of this cheap stuff (I don't think we are going to live longer than our parents). This makes people fatter than ever which would make people have lower self esteems than before. Ironically, the low self esteems of consumer whores lead them to purchase even more useless shit and have an increasingly shitty life. Its a downward spiral in which the money making machines are to blame! To me it makes too much sense to be a mere 'conspiracy theory.' Everything has an endless list of accessories you can buy to make you're item better. All our food has some kind of processed fat paste (sauce) you can lather it up with. Anything in excess is dangerous.
I say all of this while accepting that I will eat poisonous crap in the future. The fact is I have to eat what is available to me. I think the solution is to support the independent food providers with purchases as much as possible so that the underdogs get most of my cash. That or moving to Canada where people don't suck.
To all them panzy bitches living inside the private school bubble who think I am a pessimist: Sorry, but i deal with reality. This alone will probably give me enough stress to get cancer before my time (a fate which i can accept), but at least my purpose is to increase the quality of this life rather than plan on how great the next one might be. I GOT MY PRINCIPLES.
In any case, Robert Plant's lyrics can be kinda sappy.
